After days of uncertainty on whether the US will enter the Israel-Iran war, Trump has broken the silence. There were questions about US support for Israel. Washington has joined Israel’s ongoing campaign to defang Iran’s nuclear weapons programme. This move comes after Israel started targeting Iranian military and nuclear facilities under “Operation Rising Lion” on June 13th. In the nine days since, Israel has systematically destroyed Iranian air defence, missile systems and uranium enrichment infrastructure.
Trump’s Statement
On Saturday, the US President confirmed this. He stated that the US has “completed our very successful attack on the three nuclear sites in Iran. These sites include Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space.” The planes were on their way back to the US.
Fordow was the primary and most-fortified nuclear facility. Trump claims that it is “gone” after the US dropped a “payload of bombs” on it.
Trump applauded the military, saying it is second to none in the world. He also posted on TruthSocial, “NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!” “Iran must now agree to end this war.” He wrote in another post. Trump was scheduled to address the country at 10PM EDT regarding the attack.

Israel remained informed of Strikes
Israeli officials have confirmed that they were informed of the US air attacks in advance. Israel fully coordinated with the US for striking the three nuclear sites. They confirmed that B-2 stealth bombers, equipped with 30,000 pounds of bunker buster bombs, were used in the attack. B-2 aircraft are especially known for their capability to deploy huge bunker buster bombs. These bombs, which only the US military possesses, were considered essential to target heavily fortified sites.
Prior to the attack, they were deployed in Guam, a U.S. island territory in the Western Pacific. Trump had earlier said he would decide whether he wants to intervene in two weeks’ time. Israel warned the US. They do not wish to wait. They would continue dismantling key parts of Iran’s nuclear programme.
Reactions from the world
Former Israeli Minister for Defence,Yoav Gallant, has posted on X in support of the US Strike. “President Trump took a bold decision for the United States, for Israel, for all of humanity.”
While Israel has glorified this US action, Hamas, Cuba, and Venezuela have condemned it. The UN has called it “a dangerous escalation”. New Zealand, Mexico, and Australia have acknowledged the strike and called for de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy.
However, de-escalation does not seem to be in sight. Iran had vowed to retaliate if any third party interferes in the conflict, indirectly warning Washington earlier. Meanwhile, the US has warned that any retaliation will be met with a far greater force.
