Asim Munir threatened India with a nuclear war said, “we will take half the world down with us.”, he quoted the statement during his second visit Tampa, Florida in US.
First time nuclear threat from US soil
Pakistan’s Army chief and field Marshal Asim Munir exclaimed that if Pakistan in nearest future will feel existential threat it would launch nuclear destruction drowning half of the world with it. It’s a rare threat delivered by other nation on American Soil.
Threat to Indian infrastructure
Field marshal Asim Munir specifically targeted any Indian dams that might be built on the Indus River by India saying Pakistan would retaliate with missiles—“phir 10 missile se faarigh kar denge” (“we will destroy it with 10 missiles”)—emphasizing, “We have no shortage of missiles, Alhamdulillah.” These remarks were made in the context of the Indus Waters Treaty being suspended and potential water insecurity.
Highlighted Kashmir Issue
Munir claimed that Kashmir is no longer solely the internal matter of India. It has become an unresolved issue of international nature. Highlighted that Kashmir is Pakistan’s Internal Vein and will not be compromised ever.
India’s Stance Post Munir’s Statement
Indian Foreign ministry expressed regrets for Such statements coming from the friendly soil of third country by Pakistan.
The international community can draw its own conclusions on the irresponsibility inherent in such remarks. These remarks also reinforce the well-held doubts about the integrity of nuclear command and control. “The Ministry stated this is especially concerning. It is happening in a state where the military works closely with terrorist groups,” the Ministry said in a statement.
The Ministry also reaffirmed New Delhi’s position that India will continue taking necessary action required for securing National Interests.

“Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir’s comments show that Pakistan is an irresponsible state with nuclear weapons…Pakistan Army Chief’s statement is part of a pattern. Whenever the US supports the Pakistan military, they always show their true colours,” said sources. They highlighted that Pakistan showcases a particular pattern. It gives such strong statements only with the backing of the US.
Asim Munir’s statement highlights an alarming fact. Nuclear weapons powers are in the hands of a very irresponsible state. This state is run by the military, not a Democratic government. There is a real danger of falling of nuclear weapons in the hands of non-state actors.
