Chief of Army staff General Upinder Dwivedi highlights how fake narrative of winning conflicts post Operation Sindoor circulates in Pakistan.
While addressing in a one of the premium institutions of India, IIT madras, COAS Upinder Dwivedi remarked, “If you ask a Pakistani whether you lost or won, he’d say my chief has become a field marshal. We must have won only, that’s why he’s become a field marshal…”
Highlighting If any Pakistan nationals is asked today you won the conflicts or not. They will answer by considering whether their Army chief, Asim Munir, has been promoted to Field Marshall rank. If he has, they must have won.
As Pakistan’s Army chief, Asim Munir has been promoted after Operation Sindoor. He is now a five-star general and field marshal.
COAS Highlights the Role of “Strategic Messaging”
“Narrative management system is something which we realise in a big way. Victory is in mind…it’s always in mind” said COAS Dwivedi about Pak’s victory claims on Operation Sindoor.
This is the reality of Pakistan’s based military propaganda. It claims false victories in minds rather than real gains on battlefields. “The strategic messaging was very important. The first messaging we did was ‘Justice done: Operation Sindoor.’ It hit the maximum number of hits, I am told, in the world today,” the Army chief added.
“This is how you can influence the population…it is the domestic population, adversaries population and the neutral population… can rising powers be accommodated? That’s the question you have to ask. “You will get the answer yourself,” the Army chief said. He added that India made Strategic efforts to take control of the narrative management system. This was achieved through the use of social media.
Defense Forces were given Free Hand
On April 23, following the Pahalgam terror attack, COAS remarked that the decision was made. All power to take actions on Pakistan was vested in the hands of senior Army, Navy, and Air officials. A free hand was given.
“That is what raises your morale. That was the reason it helped our army commanders-in-chief to be on the ground. They could act as per their wisdom,” COAS added.
Earlier, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh credited the success of Operation Sindoor. He attributed this success to the “political will” of the central government. He asserted that the Indian Armed Forces carried out the mission without any external constraints.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people. The armed forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists linked to groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling, attempted drone strikes, and air defence measures. India’s counter strikes damaged radar installations, communication hubs, and airfields across 11 Pakistani bases, including the Nur Khan air base.
