Security Forces Conduct Major Counter Insurgency Operations Across Manipur

Over the past week, Manipur has witnessed sustained counter-insurgency operations of most extensive and co-ordinated nature. The operations began on July 29 and culminated on 4 August 2025. The Indian Army and Assam Rifles units closely coordinated with Manipur and other intelligence agencies. They operated in the state’s most sensitive districts. These include Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Thoubal, Imphal West, and Imphal East districts in Manipur.

Large Stocks of Weapons Seized

The scale of seizure is striking. The operations led to the apprehension of 15 active insurgent cadres from various valley and hill-based groups. This led to the recovery of 69 weapons, 16 improvised explosive devices, grenades, ammunitions, radio sets, and other war-like stores. These also included looted services weapons, country-made arms, and explosives capable of causing mass casualties.

Focussed Strikes to Take Down the Network

The sustained focus on high-risk areas is particularly evident in the forested ridges of Churachandpur. This includes Dampi bridge, Tollen, and K Geljang. It highlights the determination of security forces to dismantle insurgent’s safe heavens. They aim to disrupt their logistical networks.

Strong Message to Insurgents

The message from these operations is clear. The security forces are committed to preserving peace and stability. Any attempt by armed groups to reassert influence will be met with firm and calibrated action. At the same time, restoring public confidence requires more than just security measures. It needs sustained governance, economic development, and trust-building to foster reconciliation among communities.
