Uttar Pradesh ATS Arrests Ordnance Factory Employee for Espionage

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested an employee of the Ordnance Factory. The employee is identified as Ravindra Kumar. He faces charges of espionage. Kumar is accused of leaking classified defense information to a Pakistani intelligence handler.

According to ATS officials, Kumar was employed as a chargeman at the Ordnance Factory in Hazratpur, Firozabad. Investigations have revealed that he was passing sensitive defense-related documents to a woman identified as “Neha Sharma.” She is suspected of being a Pakistani intelligence operative.

Officials reported that Kumar developed an online relationship with Sharma through Facebook between June and July 2024. People believe he was manipulated into sharing confidential information. This could have posed a serious threat to national security. The ATS arrested Kumar from its headquarters in Lucknow late on Thursday after gathering substantial evidence against him.

Authorities are currently investigating whether Kumar acted alone or if he was part of a larger espionage network. His digital communications and financial transactions are being closely examined to uncover potential links to foreign intelligence agencies.

The incident has raised concerns about cyber espionage tactics used by foreign intelligence agencies to target government employees. Security experts emphasize the need for strict surveillance and awareness programs to prevent such breaches.

This arrest highlights the increasing threats posed by cyber infiltration in defense establishments. It underscores the importance of vigilance among officials handling sensitive information. The ATS has urged all government employees to be cautious of online relationships. These relationships may be traps set by hostile entities. Further legal action against Kumar will be determined after a detailed inquiry.
