Trump’s Political Agenda: from MAGA to MIGA

Operation Midnight Hammer involved US airstrikes on three nuclear sites of Iran on Sunday morning. Following this, the US administration stated that its aim was not to bring about a regime change in Iran. This has long been viewed as the US’s political agenda for Iran. The US President Donald Trump contradicted his administration’s stand. On Sunday, he appeared to support a regime change in the Islamic Republic.

Earlier, the US administration members publicly admitted something significant. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and defense secretary Pete Hegseth were all included. They stated that Operation Midnight Hammer had only a military objective – to destroy Iran’s nuclear sites. They stated that it was not meant to topple the Khomeini regime.

“This mission was not about regime change. It has not been about regime change,” Hegseth had said at a news conference. The conference detailed the aerial bombing of the Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan nuclear facilities.

Rubio also affirmed that this was not an attack on Iran, the Iranian people or their regime.

Further, Vance had told NBC News that the US wanted to end Iran’s nuclear programme. After that, they wished to discuss a long-term settlement with them.

But later, Trump came up with another variation of his slogan, “Make America Great Again” for Iran. He is now calling for MIGA – Make Iran Great Again. On his social media platform, Truth Social, he posted, “It’s not politically correct to use the term, ‘Regime Change,’ but if the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a Regime change??? MIGA.”

The stakes in the Iran-Israel war are only increasing with no “unconditional surrender” in sight.
