Ahead of India’s 79th Independence Day, government honoured armed forces heroes with gallantry awards. Nine Indian Air Force pilots hit Muridke and Bahawalpur targets during Operation Sindoor. They will receive the Vir Chakra, India’s third highest wartime gallantry award.
Names of the nine IAF officials have been confirmed. They include Group Captain Ranjeet Singh Sidhu, Group Captain Manish Arora, and Group Captain Animesh Patni. Other officials include Group Captain Kunal Kalra and Wing Commander Joy Chandra. Squadron Leader Sarthak Kumar and Sidhnat Singh are part of the group. Squadron Leader Rizwan Malik and Flight Lieutenant Aarshveer Singh Thakur are part of the group as well.
Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma and Director General Military Operations Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai received the Sarvottam Yudha Sewa Medal. They played a significant role during Operation Sindoor. They targeted military and civilian targets and successfully destroyed them.
The government announced that thirteen officers of the Indian Air Force will receive the Yudh Sewa Medal. This announcement was made on the eve of Independence Day. Additionally, 26 officers will be awarded the Vayu Sena Medal. Four Air Force officers and two senior Army officers will be decorated with the Sarvottam Yudha Seva Medal.

India Destroyed Pakistan Based Terrorist Base Camps During Operation Sindoor
A Pakistan-based terrorist organisation infiltrated and executed the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on 22nd April. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor to retaliate for the terror attack.
India attacked The Resistance Front (TRF). TRF is a front for Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). This group had taken responsibility for the Terror attack.
In coordinated action, the Indian Army carried out targeted strikes, eliminating nine terrorist bases belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The military strikes were infiltrated on Pakistan Military and Civilian structures with no civilian casualties On May 7 and after.
Operation Sindoor was Jointly conducted by TRI-Military services of Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air force.
India showcased a strong position in strikes against Pakistan. The war was stopped on Pak’s DGMO request on May 10. There was an understanding to halt military actions.
India’s Precise Air Strikes During Operation Sindoor on May 7
Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh confirmed the Indian Hostilities on Pakistan’s Assets near border and deep inside Pakistan. He confirmed 5 enemy aircrafts were shot down and one large aircraft.
“We have at least five enemy fighters confirmed shot down, and one large aircraft — possibly a transport or an AWACS — destroyed at a distance of about 300 kilometres. This is the largest recorded surface-to-air kill we can speak of,” he said.
